Kindergartner: The Exclusive Interview

AUGUST 074

School is in session! (Editor’s Note: School has been in session for almost two months now and yes, the author of this article should receive the boot for missing her deadline, but considering the lack of compensation for our writers, we take who we can get.)

Our  Family Features reporter recently sat down with Kindergarten student, Bennett Cox, for this exclusive First Day of School Eve interview.

AUGUST 052AUGUST 053

FER: Bennett, thank you for sharing this highly-anticipated night with us!  You must be so excited for the beginning of school tomorrow!  Tell me, what is it you’re most looking forward to?

BC: Learning and…playing.  Recess.

FER: So you’ve obviously heard all about the magical thing called recess. Kindergarteners worldwide love it.  What else do soon-to-be students such as yourself enjoy?

BC: Go Fish, making things, collecting bugs, riding my bike, looking at my scrapes

FER: Ah, scrapes.  Yes, I hear you want to be a doctor.  What else would you like to be when you grow up?

AUGUST 055AUGUST 057

BC: A guy who works with dogs or a builder or…a professional bike rider.

FER: Sounds very…safe.  Perhaps you could make enough money in all those professions to send your favorite person on a really great vacation?  Speaking of, who is your favorite person?

BC: (After MUCH hesitation) Daddy

FER: Oh. Never mind, then.  Where is YOUR favorite place to go?

BC: Disneyland.

FER: Ah, good choice.  You’re very luck to have such a cool MOM (and dad) who takes you there every year.  That’s a great memory.  What’s your favorite memory from this summer?

BC: Fireworks

FER: Ooohhh…good times.  You’re definitely lucky to have such an excellent MOM (and dad) who know the best fireworks spots. And, if I might add, you’re very fortunate to have such an awesome MOM who feeds that belly every day.  While we’re on the subject, what is your favorite food?

BC: Ummmm…pizza or macaroni and cheese

AUGUST 066

FER: I imagine that’s very popular among your age group.  What’s your favorite TV show?

BC: Wild Kratts

FER: Any favorite movies?

BC: Despicable Me and maybe Kung Fu Panda?

FER: I know you like to listen to music with your WAY COOL MOM—what are your favorite songs?

BC: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles or Bayloaf 4  songs.  Uprising. (Editor’s Note: BC’s music preferences in no way reflect those of his UTTERLY AMAZING MOM)

FER: Well, Bennett, thank you for your time and good luck with school.  We’ll leave our readers with a few more of your responses.  And remember, moms are cool!

AUGUST 067AUGUST 071

FAVORITE THING TO DO AT HOME: Play outside

FAVORITE BOOK: All superhero books and comics

FAVORITE THING TO DO WITH MOM: Go places with her and go for walks

FAVORITE THING TO DO WITH DAD: Listen to his band

WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY? Daddy having  a day off.  And races—I’m happy about that.

DO YOU LIKE TO KISS GIRLS? No, that’s gross. (Editor’s Note: For now)

What a studly kindergartner! I really dig the tie. I was picturing pants to his rib cages, tube socks to his knees, you know all of the typical "uniform" stereotypes. I must say, he fits none of those descriptions. Oh, and being that Miles is a viking, he should find a girl named Helga. How fitting. : )
