Hi-e, Kauai!

She was done donning puffy winter wear and making ski goggles look good, despite the consequent rings about the eyes…

Winter photo shoots were so December.

Ergo, Calendar Girl gathered her Calendar Friends

and jetted to a tropical clime, shedding winter clothing as they ran, Baywatch style, off the plane in Kauai.

(You know it’s going to be a fabulous vacation when you get off the plane—in January, and find this…)

Cameras followed them everywhere

as they posed for the cover of Snorkel Pro magazine,

Cave Man Monthly

and Sunscreen Awareness Month posters.

(Calendar Girl is their official spokesperson and poster child.)

The American Academy of Dermatologists paid big bucks for the calendar girls and boys to pitch the latest Natural Exfoliation technique…also known as sand and salt in every nook and cranny.

(This was the perfect body boarding spot, not to mention a wildlife Mecca—we swam with turtles, watched sea lions and whales..and drank an overabundance of salt water.)

A newcomer and culinary sensation, Sheruf a la Cox, enlisted the help of the Calendar Boys to make their creations appear even more mouth-watering

and rival the tourist favorites: Meerriman’s, Keoki’s Paradise, Puka Dog and Papalani Gelato.

(Yes, I am recommending these fine establishments should you ever find yourself in Kauai…)

(Mmmmmm….POG gelato—Passion Fruit, Blood Orange and Guava. I hear Hawaiian music in my head…)

The Calendar Friends were whisked

to exotic locales

and encouraged to mix and mingle with the Natives.

They combed the island for the perfect photo locations,

striking a pose over Mount Wai-'ale'ale, the rainiest place on Earth

(465 inches, 350 days per year…),

flexing their sea legs at the Western most point in the United States and working it as they sailed around the island (which happens to be the farthest distance one can get from any continent…)

The group completed their Hazardous Job Survival Training while on location. Calendar Boy Steve was nice enough to demonstrate the section on The Perils of Sliding Down Cliffs, Falling over Ledges and Landing in Smoldering Jungle Cess Pools.

No one could have done it better…

Calendar Boy Christopher demonstrated the effects the 110 degree Molten Lava hot tub had on sunburns

and volunteered to come face to face with Puff the Magic Dragon in the land called Hanalei.

(We never found him…maybe the stick had to be lit…and maybe the Puff Finder had to be more than a stick. :)

After taxing days of danger and beauty,

the Calendar Friends returned to their rooms

and prepared for their favorite photo op: Ahhhh….Waterside Relaxation.
