“Simply the thing that I am shall make me live.”

Of Things That Matter Most

“One of the characteristics of modern life seems to be that we are moving at an ever increasing rate. Let’s be honest: it’s rather easy to be busy. We call can think up a list of tasks that will overwhelm our schedules. Some might even think their self-worth depends on the length of their to-do list. They flood the open spaces in their time with meetings and minutia—even during times of stress and fatigue. Because they unnecessarily complicate their lives, they often feel increased frustration, diminished joy and too little sense of meaning in their lives.
The wise… resist the temptation to get caught up in the frantic rush of everyday life…they focus on things that matter most.”

What Matters Most
*Happy, content family*
*A fun, open, caring relationship with my husband*
*Making sure we plan for and do the things we want to do “someday” before “someday” comes and goes*
*A peaceful home where learning takes place and self-worth is gained*
*Enjoying time and experiences with my kids before they grow up*
*Maintaining the daily Must-Dos for spirituality*
*Spending time with friends, doing things we enjoy*
*Creative outlets and daily reading and writing*
*Making memories that will forever be bright spots*
*Taking advantage of opportunities to see things, do things, experience things that teach and make me smile*
*Maintaining our budget, continuing in frugality and relishing in the things we have*

I want to do some similar things this year. It sounds so cheesy, but to just simplify. You made it sound not cheesy, so good job. I love that Thoreau quote.
Amen, sister. However, today was a miserable failure.
